Abandoned cart recovery

When a shopper starts checkout, leaves their email, and doesn't finish, litecommerce automatically emails them a reminder with a link back to your storefront cart. It's on by default — there's nothing to switch on or configure.

What you see

Customers → Abandoned Carts is a read-only view of the funnel. Each row shows the shopper's email (if one was captured), the item count, the subtotal, when the cart was captured, how many recovery emails have gone out, and a status — pending or recovered. Filter by Pending only, Recovered, or All captures.

There are no buttons here: recovery runs on its own, so this page is for watching, not doing.

How the reminders work

  • The first reminder goes out about an hour after the cart is left — enough of a gap not to interrupt someone who's still checking out.
  • A second reminder follows roughly a day later if they still haven't returned.
  • Currently that's the limit — at most two emails per cart.

If the shopper comes back and completes the order, the cart flips to recovered and no further emails are sent.

What the shopper receives

The email greets them with your store name, lists the items they left with the subtotal, and offers a Return to your cart button that takes them back to the cart on your storefront. Their items are still there when they return in the same browser they shopped in; on a different device the cart page starts fresh. It explains why they received it and makes clear you won't keep emailing them about it — the two-email cap is the cushion, so there's no separate unsubscribe step.

Who can do this

Any team member can view the Abandoned Carts list — it's read-only. The reminder emails are fully automated; there's nothing to send or schedule by hand.
