Shipping

Shipping is built from zones (where you ship) and rates (what it costs). Set them up under Shipping in the admin, and your storefront can show customers the matching rates while they shop.

Zones — where you ship

A zone is a named region defined by the countries it covers — for example "North America" covering the US and Canada. From Shipping, create a zone with a name and its countries.

  • Each country belongs to one zone. You can't have two active zones both claiming the same country — the admin blocks the overlap and tells you which zone already has it.
  • Use the up/down arrows to order how zones (and their rates) appear.
  • Archiving a zone takes it off your storefront immediately but keeps it so you can restore it later. A zone with no countries won't match any address — the admin flags it.

Rates — what it costs

Inside a zone, add one or more rates. Each rate has:

FieldWhat it does
NameWhat the customer sees — e.g. "Standard", "Express".
PriceThe shipping charge. Set it to 0 for free shipping.
Minimum subtotalOptional — the cart must reach this before the rate shows. Pair it with a price of 0 for "free shipping over $X".
Estimated deliveryOptional copy shown with the rate, e.g. "Arrives in 3–5 business days".

A zone with no rates can't quote shipping — add at least one.

What the customer sees

On the storefront, the customer's shipping address picks the zone, and they see every rate they qualify for (those whose minimum subtotal they've met). If their country isn't in any of your zones, there's nothing to show — so make sure your zones cover where you ship.

At checkout the customer picks a rate, and that charge is added to the total they pay. When the delivery address has rates available, choosing one is required before payment — so an order is never placed without a shipping method when you offer one. A rate priced at 0, or one zeroed by a free-shipping discount, shows as Free.

Good to know

Rates today are a flat charge per shipment (with the optional minimum-spend condition). Weight-based or order-total-tiered rates and live carrier rates aren't available yet.

The selected method and its charge appear on the order, the confirmation email, and the customer's account order view.

Shipping covers delivery only. Taxes are calculated separately from your shipping rates.

Who can do this

Shipping is part of your store settings, so Owners and Admins set up zones and rates, and so can Staff granted the Settings permission group — once granted, the shipping controls unlock for them. Staff without the group see them read-only. See Team & permissions.
